El Gavilan (El Gav-eee-lahn) - Quilanga, Ecuador
The export cooperative Fapecafes formed in 2002 when four grower co-operatives – among them Procafeq, which produced this year’s El Gavilán – in the regions around Loja, Ecuador, joined together to better promote their members’ coffee. Since then, the cooperative has steadily incorporated new members and new communities and the name Fapecafes has become synonymous with quality in Ecuadoran coffee.
Tasting Notes
Cherry and vanilla are the classic hallmarks of the Typica variety, and these flavors are there in spades along with other stone fruits like apricot and peach. Perfectly clean, elegant, and drinkable.
